This is a slight variation on the lemon drop that I tried last night. I infused some 360 vodka with basil from our raised garden bed out back. This infusion took a couple of days. Infusions can take anywhere from half an hour (e.g. coffee) to a couple of weeks (e.g. lemongrass), so it’s good to taste it as you go. Normal lemon drops call for simple syrup, but I opted for Cointreau.
BASIL LEMON DROP
2 oz basil vodka
1 oz fresh lemon juice
1/2 oz Cointreau
Shake ingredients with ice and strain into a chilled martini glass, rimmed with sugar. Garnish with lemon wedge and/or fresh basil.
To rim the glass with sugar, run a wedge of lemon around the edge of the glass to wet it, then twist in a dish or tray of granulated sugar.
Drink up! Doctor’s Orders.
